Financial Situation

The price of commodities does not seem to have been affected by the problems of the banking world and financial system. Prices seem to have topped out for the while.
Can anyone out there remember what happened last time the City went into meltdown?

The Price of Food

There has never been a time when so many prices have soared and stayed so high. We've kept them as low as we can and tried to restrict changes until the end of months but these increases just keep coming.

The volumes of food that we sell have stayed surprisingly buoyant but one wonders about Christmas. Will there be a Christmas rush this year? We are having to take decisions about puddings and mincemeat and we all know what it's like to be looking at a stack of them in early January.

If anyone has any early indications about this please post them up here.

I'm not sure where this Blog will go but I hope it will provide a useful resource for the exchange of information or chat.

I'd be very interested to know if anyone out there has read Craig Sam's book about Green and Blacks called Sweet Dreams. And whether they've read the Amazon reviews thereof? Some critical points made by this correspondent were censured and removed from the site although they were legal, decent and true.
